“Nose jobs” in Montreal
“Nose jobs” (rhinoplasty) are the most sophisticated of all cosmetic surgeries, because the nose is a completely hollow structure.
Rhinoplasty
Surgical approach
Mini-incisions
Dr. Fanous utilizes a technique that focuses on small incisions inside the nose, which offers the advantage of a relatively quick recovery with fewer external cuts. Nasal reconstruction surgery requires a high level of expertise, which is why it should be entrusted to an experienced surgeon.

Surgery details
Nasal cosmetic surgery, or "rhinoplasty," involves the removal of excess nasal cartilage and careful refinement of excess nasal bone. Scars are concealed inside the nose. If it's necessary to reduce nostril width or in the case of an "open" approach, a small scar may remain at the base of each nostril or between the two nostrils at the end of the rhinoplasty. In some cases, a small graft of cartilage (from the nose or ear) or fascia (from behind the ear) or a small implant (made of a synthetic sponge-like material) may be used to augment a portion of the nose and improve the final result of the rhinoplasty. Thick nasal skin may somewhat limit the final result of the rhinoplasty. This is because thick skin doesn't contract as much as thin skin (so the nose can't become significantly smaller). Nonetheless, results are usually satisfying. Nasal surgery typically lasts one to two hours.
Anesthesia without general anesthesia
A local anesthesia with sedation is used for your rhinoplasty. Therefore, plastic surgery of the nose is performed by Dr. Fanous without the use of general anesthesia. Patients can typically return home on the same day as the rhinoplasty.
Rhinoplasty
Post-operation
Generally, there is very little discomfort in the nose following "Mini-Incision" rhinoplasty. At the end of the rhinoplasty, a very small cast is applied to the nose and is removed without discomfort after one week.
In a few cases, a very thin tampon, similar to a gel-like substance, is placed inside the nose and will gradually dissolve during the first week following the surgery.
Minimal numbness in the upper teeth, as well as slight nasal congestion, may be experienced for a few days to a few weeks after the cosmetic nose surgery.
Typically, facial swelling and discoloration around the eyes are minimal and tend to decrease during the first post-operative week.
Generally, your face is very presentable, and you can return to work one week after rhinoplasty. Your nose will look better immediately after the operation, but it will continue to improve over the course of 2 to 4 years because the remaining swelling dissipates very slowly.
Therefore, do not expect to see the final result of the rhinoplasty when the cast is removed. Don't be alarmed if the shape of your nose continues to change in the first few months following the cosmetic nose surgery.

Revision surgery
In the case of revision surgery, when the nose has undergone one or more previous unsuccessful operations, improvement is possible but the surgery is technically more difficult and the results more limited than in the case of a virgin nose. In some cases, the appearance of your nose may also be influenced by the weakness of the features that surround it, such as a week chin, flat cheeks, thin lips, a double chin, etc. These features can be corrected at the same time as the nasal surgery to enhance the final appearance of your nose. Even a slightly weak chin can make your nose look bigger. In such a case, increasing the size of your chin by a few millimeters is recommended to improve the appearance of your nose.
Risks
As for any surgical intervention, complications are possible but not common, such as injection, bleeding, excessive scarring, sensory changes, cutaneous necrosis, asymmetry, numbness, pain, implant rejection, etc.
