Surgery details

Breast lift, or 'mastopexy,' is a surgery in which the breast is lifted, the nipple is repositioned, and excess skin is removed. Mild breast sagging, or 'mild ptosis,' only requires a circular incision ('peri-areolar') around the nipple's perimeter ('areola'). Severe ptosis, on the other hand, requires two additional incisions: one vertical below the nipple and one horizontal in the fold beneath the breast, both in the shape of an inverted 'T.' Schedule a consultation to discuss the cosmetic surgery.

Duration: Breast lift or mastopexy surgery lasts approximately three hours.

Anesthesia... without general anesthesia

Local anesthesia with sedation is used for your breast lift. Therefore, the breast plastic surgery is performed by Dr. Fanous without the need for general anesthesia. You can return home on the same day as the breast lift.

After breast surgery

Recovery time

The recovery time varies from person to person, but you should be able to resume many of your regular activities after about one to two weeks.

Breast lift

Breast augmentation: is it really necessary?

If the sagging breast is also small in volume, breast lift surgery can be combined, during the same procedure, with breast augmentation using an implant to give the lifted breast more fullness in its upper part.

Possible complications

Risks

As with any other cosmetic surgical procedure, complications are possible but infrequent: infection, bleeding, excessive scarring, sensory changes, skin necrosis, asymmetry, numbness, pain, etc
