Surgical approach
the "Mini-Dissection"
A protruding abdomen can be a source of distress for men and women alike. It may be the result of excess adipose tissue, weak abdominal muscles, or loose skin that has become distended and no longer responds to diet or exercise. The "Mini-Dissection" tummy tuck is the technique used on the majority of our patients. It's a state-of-the-art approach that uses limited dissection and applies the "Optimal Mobility" theory taught by Dr. Fanous.

Surgery details
There are two basic techniques for flattening a protuberant abdomen. Liposuction alone can produce a slim abdominal wall for some patients with firm skin.
For those who suffer from lax abdominal muscles and, above all, excess skin, abdominoplasty (redraping) may be the only solution. Abdominoplasty involves an incision around the navel and a longer one at the bottom of the abdomen. The abdominal skin is lifted, the muscle tightened with sutures, and the excess skin and fat tissue removed.
Duration: Abdominoplasty lasts approximately three to four hours.
Anaesthesia...without general anaesthesia
Local anesthesia with sedation is used for your abdominoplasty. Therefore, tummy tuck surgery is performed by Dr. Fanous without the need for general anesthesia. You go home the same day as your tummy tuck.
After the tummy tuck
Recovery time
After abdominoplasty, you usually go home the same day. Most patients are back at work within one to two weeks. It is often necessary to wear a special abdominal support garment for several weeks.
Best candidates
Patients who have reached their ideal weight are the best candidates for a tummy tuck (tummy tuck or abdominoplasty). Many patients combine their tummy tuck with other aesthetic procedures such as liposuction.
Risks
Possible complications
As with any other aesthetic surgical procedure, complications are possible but infrequent: infection, bleeding, excessive scarring, sensory changes, skin necrosis, asymmetry, numbness, pain, hematoma, seroma (fluid accumulation), muscle weakness, etc.
